Terrorist attack in Tel Aviv (Statement by Foreign Press Secretary Yasuhisa Kawamura)

1. The Government of Japan strongly deplores the terrorist attack which occurred on June 9 (June 8, local time) in Tel Aviv. Japan expresses its heartfelt sympathy for the victims and sends condolences to the bereaved families.
2. In this context, the Government of Japan is deeply concerned with the continuous tensions between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Japan once again emphasizes the necessity of continuing efforts among all the parties concerned to ease tensions and to enhance mutual trust for the resumption of the peace talks.
