Meeting between Foreign Minister Hayashi and H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Special Envoy for Japan of the United Arab Emirates

On April 14, commencing at 1:15 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, H.E. Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Japan of the United Arab Emirates, who is visiting Japan to participate in G7 Ministers' Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment in Sapporo. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Hayashi expressed his congratulations on Minister Jaber’s appointment as the COP28 President-Designate and stated that Japan attaches great importance to the strategic partnership with the UAE and look forward to cooperating in various fields. In response, Minister Jaber expressed his renewed hopes for further strengthening the bilateral relations with Japan.
- Minister Jaber explained the status of preparations for COP28. In response, Minister Hayashi stated that Japan is fully committed to making its utmost contribution to the negotiations for achieving satisfactory outcomes of COP28.
- The two Ministers confirmed that they will continue to work together under the Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI), and exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of defense and on the situation in Ukraine.
