Selection of the Logo for the 140th Anniversary of Japan-Thailand Diplomatic Relations
Foreign Press Secretary KITAMURA Toshihiro: At the outset, I have one announcement.
It concerns the selection of the logo for the 140th anniversary of Japan-Thailand diplomatic relations. Next year, 2027, is a milestone year, marking the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand. To mark this occasion, the two countries held a public contest for the anniversary logo, and conducted a public vote.
The public call for the logo drew approximately 800 entries from the two countries. From among these, following a final review that included a public vote in which more than 30,000 votes were cast, the logo displayed here was selected last month.
The designer is a Thai national. According to the designer’s statement, the logo combines Mount Fuji, the rising sun, and ocean waves, which symbolize Japan, with traditional Thai architecture style, expressing the strong and enduring bond between Japan and Thailand, as well as their continued cooperation.
Next year, various commemorative projects and events will be held in both Japan and Thailand. The official logo will be authorized for use in officially recognized anniversary projects. Details on how to apply for certification of anniversary projects will be announced on the MOFA website once arrangements are finalized, and we invite those interested to visit the website.
