Visit to North Korea by President Putin
Kyodo News, Hayashi: Russian President Putin reportedly visited North Korea for the first time in 24 years. It can be seen that the two sides will strengthen their relationship, for instance the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. Please tell us about your current view on the situation.
Ms. KOBAYASHI Maki, Press Secretary: On the outlook of the Russia-North Korea Summit Meeting, the Government of Japan believes that it is not appropriate to comment based on speculation. Generally speaking, we consider that the regional security environment surrounding Japan is becoming ever more severe, including the enhanced military collaboration and cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
Japan will continue to gather and analyze related information and work closely with the U.S., the Republic of Korea (ROK), and other members of the international community, including for the full implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions.
