Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs: In regard to Warnings on Infectious Diseases, today the Warning on Infectious Diseases Level for Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province was raised to Level 3: avoid all travel. The Warning on Infectious Diseases Level was already raised to Level 3 for Hubei Province. The rest of China is at Level 2: avoid non-essential travel.
The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus is over 1,000 people in Zhejiang Province, and it has the second highest rate of infected persons on a per 10,000 person basis after Hubei Province. As of February 13, foreign people with a history of travel to Zhejiang Province, in addition to Hubei Province, will be denied entry to Japan.
In relation to this, the number of infected people in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province has reached 490 people, meaning a rate of 0.53 infected people per 10,000 people, and measures are being taken including partial restrictions on movement. After making a comprehensive judgment based on various circumstances including this situation, today the Government of Japan has raised the Warning on Infectious Diseases Level for Wenzhou City to Level 3: avoid all travel.
