The Second Asia-Pacific Ministerial Meeting on HIV/AIDS and The XV International AIDS Conference

The Second Asia-Pacific Ministerial Meeting on HIV/AIDS will be convened on 11 July, in Bangkok, Thailand. At the Ministerial Meeting, representatives of 38 countries from Asia-Pacific region and 15 international organizations will meet and discuss under the theme of "Access for All: Political Accountability". From Japan, the delegation headed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Ichiro Fujisaki will attend the Meeting. This Ministerial Meeting is to be held as the parallel event of the XV International AIDS Conference, held from 11 to 16 July.

*International AIDS Conference
This is an international conference which is held every two years. People from all areas including government, the private sector and academic field, will gather to present and discuss their activities and research and introduce new developments on how to control HIV/AIDS. Participants also have an opportunity to exchange their views frankly on skill-building, advocacy etc.

The Side Events of International AIDS Conference hosted by Japan

During the XV International AIDS Conference, Japan will organize two events aiming to introduce some of its contribution in controlling HIV/AIDS and to have active discussion on this problem.

July 12 (Mon) HIV/AIDS RCC Project (the project in which Japan and Thailand provide cooperation to CLMV countries in HIV/AIDS area)
July 13 (Tue) Africa Day (Support by Japan in Africa regarding HIV/AIDS)
July 14 (Wed) JOCV Day (Activities of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers in the HIV/AIDS field)
July 15 (Thu) HIV/AIDS in Thailand and grass-root activities (Activities of NGOs which have received assistance from Japan concerning HIV/AIDS)

2. Symposium (Satellite meeting)
