The 15th ARF Inter-Sessional Meeting on Maritime Security

On May 6, 2024, the 15th Inter-Sessional Meeting on Maritime Security, one of the frameworks for cooperation in the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), was held in a hybrid format at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.
At this meeting, co-chaired by Indonesia, India, and the United States, participants discussed issues, including maritime security and cooperation, protecting critical maritime infrastructure and environmental management and conservation. From Japan, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting in person.

- (a) The establishment of the ARF Inter Sessional Meeting on Maritime Security was approved at the 15th ARF Ministerial Meeting held in July 2008. Its purpose is to promote dialogue regarding challenges and threats that the ARF Participants face, as well as concrete cooperation on maritime security.
- (b) Indonesia, India, and the U.S. co-chaired the meeting in 2024. Cambodia and China will be the co-chairs of the next meeting to be held in 2025.
