The Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the “Minamata Convention on Mercury”

Japan expressed its intention to host the diplomatic conference on the occasion of the second session of the intergovernmental negotiating committee (INC) held in Chiba in January 2011. Japan wholeheartedly welcomes the successful completion of the negotiations and is ready to contribute to the successful convening of the Diplomatic Conference from 9 to 11 October 2013 in Kumamoto, Japan.
1. Basic Information
(1) Organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
(2) Approximately 800 participants are expected to attend the Conference from about 140 countries
(3) Conference venue: Hotel Nikko Kumamoto (in Kumamoto City)
