Japan-United States Space Cooperation
September 27, 2022
As confirmed at the Japan-U.S. Summit Meeting in May 2022, the Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee in January 2022, and other high-level meetings, Japan and the U.S. will deepen space civilian and security cooperation. Japan and the U.S. have cooperated extensively and very closely on outer space, including multilateral cooperation on the International Space Station (ISS) and lunar surface exploration as civilian cooperation, and cooperation on hosted payloads as security cooperation. In addition, Japan and the U.S. are discussing ways to strengthen cooperation through Japan-U.S. Comprehensive Dialogue on Space and Japan-U.S. Space Security Dialogue.
