14th-16th Informal Meeting on Further Actions against Climate Change Tokyo MOFA Under the co-chairmanship of Japan and Brazil, this informal meeting aims at frank exchanges of opinions among experts of international organizations and government officials from developing and developed countries. Discussions are focused on the measures for emission reduction in developing countries and possible international rules on climate change in which both developed and developing countries participate. 12th-21st THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT STUDY TOUR PROGRAM FOR SENIOR OFFICIALS FROM CENTRAL AND SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE COUNTRIES Tokyo, Kyoto MOFA The Government of Japan has been organizing Study Tour Programs since 1991. In this Program we invite senior officials of the governments of Central and South Eastern Europe countries to join various activities such as exchanges of views in specific areas with Japanese government officials or experts. This program aims at deepening understanding of people in Central and South Eastern European countries about Japan and promoting cooperation between those countries and Japan, by assisting them, to further promote democratization and develop market economy. This year's program focuses on the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises in South Eastern European countries. Others
28th-30th A Roundtable Seminar on FDI in ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Tokyo MOFA The ASEAN-Japan Centre is co-organizing a Roundtable Seminar on FDI in Comprehensive Economic Partnership (CEP) with UNCTAD and with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat to fulfill the following objectives: a)To share views and experiences of member countries and speakers so as to understand the issues and problems faced in investment promotion. b)To surface ideas on how to better facilitate ASEAN-Japan investment flows and to resolve possible investment issues involved during investment promotion and implementation. c)To propose a common strategy on how to facilitate investment from Japan to ASEAN countries, taking into account the circumstances and needs of each ASEAN member country. 7th-18th CENTRAL AND SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE YOUTH INVITATION PROGRAM IN JAPAN Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima MOFA In this Program the Government of Japan provides the promising youth in the Central and South Eastern Europe countries with an opportunity to visit Japan for joining various activities. The objective of this Program is to deepen their understanding about Japan through meeting with Japanese government officials, business people and youth as well as visiting industrial or cultural facilities and to promote steady and sound relationship between Central and South Eastern Europe countries and Japan on the basis of mutual understandings. This year we will invite the youth from countries which have become member states of the European Union (EU) on the 1st of this May and from countries which aim to accede to the EU in three years. early Workshop on the promotion of industries in Western Balkans: Tourism Montenegro Japanese government and Montenegro government In order to achieve sustainable economic development in the countries with relatively small-size economy such as the countries of the Western Balkans, it is important not only to promote liberalization of the economy but also to adopt various measures to promote industries which have comparative advantage in the domestic and international market. From this point of view, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi proposed at the Ministerial Conference on Peace Consolidation and Economic Development of the Western Balkans held in Tokyo on April 5, 2004, to organize a workshop about the promotion of local industries in the Western Balkans. The first round of the Workshop is to be held in a tourist resort on the Adriatic coast in the Republic of Montenegro in early November this year and will focus on the promotion of tourism. The general objective of the Workshop is to contribute to the development of tourism in the region through enhancing regional cooperation. Seminars and Symposiums
