Assistance for IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) / Refugee Women in Afghanistan by the Trust Fund for Human Security
- On November 12 (Tuesday), the Government of Japan and the United Nations (UN) decided to extend the total of 1,030,000- dollar assistance through the Trust Fund for Human Security to the project "Reintegration of Returning IDP/ Refugee Women in Community Building" to be implemented by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM).
- The goal of this project is to promote women's networking and participation in social, economic and political life of their communities and to reintegrate IDP/ refugee women into the society. Activities include establishing Women's Community Centers, providing health care and education service, psychological counseling, and vocational training as well as awareness raising on women's rights and gender issues through the media.
- This project is expected to facilitate the process of reintegration of IDP/ refugee women into the society and to strengthen the understanding of women's status in Afghanistan.
