Banana Green-Gold Project - Paper from Banana wastes -

The Banana Green-Gold Project program was presented by Professor Morishima of Nagoya City University at Japan Pavilion on 27 August. The project is about using wastes of banana trees - their stems - as materials for paper and textiles.

By application of Washi making methods with advanced technology, paper can be made in an environmentally friendly, chemical-free and energy-free way.

Banana leftovers from banana farms are no longer agricultural wastes.

Successful pilot projects in Haiti and the Carribean countries are being conducted, which are supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and such projects will be promoted to selected countries in Africa soon.by each government and NGO were expected to be promoted.
