Breakthroughs using innovative technology
To comprehensively resolve the global-warming problem, major reductions will be needed in greenhouse gases. The key to this will be the development of innovative technology from a medium- to long-term perspective for intensive energy conservation and CO2 emission reductions.
It will not be enough to implement measures with short-term effects, such as by stepping up conventional countermeasures of promoting energy conservation premised on current technological levels. There is also a need for dynamic responses that foresee the flowering of new technologies not currently included in the equation. In addition to the development of innovative technologies in terms of energy supply and demand, which will allow qualitative reform, efforts should be directed at the fixation and storage of greenhouse gases.
In the process of developing this kind of innovative technology, there will be plenty of room to establish the environment business as an industry. This should lead to the creation of new demand and new industries, as well as increased international competitiveness. In this light, not only companies but also the government should play a positive role in the development of innovative technologies.
