High Level Dialogue between Japan and Republic of Korea on Climate Change

High Level Dialogue between Japan and Republic of Korea on Climate Change was held in Tokyo (at Ministry of Foreign Affairs) on November 26th, 2009. The Japanese delegation was headed by Mr. Shinsuke J. SUGIYAMA, Ambassador, Director-General for Global Issues, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Korean delegation was headed by H.E. Mr. Rae-Kwon CHUNG, Ambassador for Climate Change, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

In the dialogue, the two countries exchanged information and views on recent climate change policies being undertaken by each country. With the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change approaching closely, the two countries also had extensive and open exchange of views regarding the possible ways of cooperation between two countries.

Through the dialogue, importance of the cooperation between two countries on global issues including climate change was reaffirmed, and two sides agreed to continue the dialogue in the future.
