The Third Japan-China Climate Change Dialogue

The Japanese delegation, headed by Mr. Mutsuyoshi Nishimura, Special Envoy for Climate Change of the Government of Japan, and the Chinese delegation, headed by Mr. Su Wei, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People's Republic of China, held the third dialogue on climate change in Tokyo on 30 August 2006.

The two sides exchanged views extensively and openly in the field of climate change including on further actions on climate change, technology, Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate, CDM, and climate change policies of each country.

Both sides reaffirmed that climate change is an issue that requires international cooperation and shared the views on the importance of climate-friendly technologies. In this regard, the two sides agreed to cooperate further on CDM projects.

Both sides reaffirmed that this dialogue should continue in the future and the cooperation between the two countries on climate change should be further strengthened. The two sides agreed to hold the next meeting in China in the first half of 2007.
