The Second China-Japan Climate Change Dialogue

The Chinese delegation, headed by Mr. Gao Feng, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P. R. China and the Japanese delegation, headed by Mr. Masaki Konishi, Ambassador, Special Assistant to the Foreign Minister, held the second dialogue on climate change in Beijing on 26 April 2005.The two sides exchanged views extensively and openly in the field of climate change including on the roles of policies of each country, technology and technology transfer, CDM, adaptation and further actions on climate change, and also, including preparation for G8+5 Summit.

Both sides reaffirmed that climate change is an issue that requires global participation in accordance with their common but differentiated responsibilities and shared the views on the importance of climate-friendly technologies. In this regard, both China and Japan agreed to corporate further in enhancing the role of CDM.
Both sides reaffirmed that this dialogue should continue in the future and the cooperation between the two countries on climate change should be further strengthened.
