
The Second Round of the International Experts Meeting on Illegal Logging

- The Second Round of the International Experts Meeting on Illegal Logging will be held in Tokyo (at Mita Kaigisho) on March 3 (Mon) and 4 (Tue).
- The meeting will be attended by H.E. Mr. Kyoji Komachi, Ambassador for Global Environmental Affairs, as a chairperson and other representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Forestry Agency and the Ministry of Environment of Japan as well as experts on illegal logging issue from major timber-producing and timber-consuming countries, European Commission, and other relevant international organizations and institutions.
Representatives from civil society and the private sector that are registered based on a prior request can participate as observers. - Illegal logging issue is closely linked with climate change and other environmental issues that are one of the main themes of the upcoming G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit. In light of the outcome of the First Round of the meeting held last March, the Second Round will focus on challenges ahead and ways to move forward.
