World Trade Organizaion (WTO) Informal Ministerial Meeting

October 13-14, 2001

Informal Ministerial Meeting of the World Trade Organization was held in Singapore from 13-14 October, 2001.

Ministers of prominent members of WTO (21 ministers of member states and regions and Director-General of WTO), which are playing an important role in the launch of the new round, participated. From the Government of Japan, Minister for Foreign Affairs Makiko Tanaka and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Takeo Hiranuma attended the Meeting.

At this meeting, in preparation for the launch of the new round at the fourth WTO Ministerial Meeting at Doha (scheduled from 9 (Fri)-13 (Tue) November, 2001), an unofficial exchange of views on main topics took place at the ministerial level.
