Aomori Prefecture has concluded friendship agreements with four regions overseas, namely, Estado de Santa Catarina in Brazil, the Khabarovsk Region in Russia, the State of Maine in the U.S.A., and the Liguria Region in Italy. In each case, the parties are promoting active cultural and economic exchanges by making use of their distinctive regional characteristics.
