Attendance of Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Endo at the EU Informal Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On September 21 local time, Mr. Kazuya ENDO, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, who was visiting New York, the United States of America, attended, an informal meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union. The overview is as follows.
- This meeting, chaired by H.E. Ms. Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, was attended by the foreign ministers of the 27 EU member states, as well as the foreign ministers of India, Australia, and the Republic of Korea, invited from the Indo-Pacific region which have security and defense partnerships with the EU.
- As the representative of Foreign Minister MOTEGI, Senior Deputy Minister Endo delivered an address in which he emphasized the importance of upholding the rules-based international order and multilateralism, outlined the priority areas of the updated “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP),” and expressed the intention to further strengthen cooperation with the EU and Indo-Pacific countries.
- The participating countries affirmed the importance of multilateralism, with the United Nations at its core, and of international law, and emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between European and Indo-Pacific countries to advance these goals.
