On March 7, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Bakhtiyor SAIDOV, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who is visiting Japan as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida welcomed Minister Saidov's first visit to Japan and expressed his gratitude for the message of condolence from Uzbekistan over the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January.
  2. Prime Minister Kishida and Minister Saidov concurred that they will continue to work closely to further develop cooperative relations between Uzbekistan and Japan, which are important strategic partners, including on the occasion of the Summit meeting of "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue to be held this year.
