Chief Cabinet Secretary Kihara shaking hands with U.S. Ambassador Glass

On November 21, commencing at 4:35p.m., for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. KIHARA Minoru, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call by the Honorable George Glass, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. Building on the outcomes of the U.S President Trump’s recent visit to Japan, Chief Cabinet Secretary Kihara stated that he would like to work closely together to elevate the Japan-U.S. Alliance to new heights.
  2. Both sides concurred on strengthening the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance while mitigating the impact on local communities. They also exchanged views on current regional affairs. Chief Cabinet Secretary Kihara asked for continued understanding and cooperation for the immediate resolution of the abductions issue and gained full support from Ambassador Glass.
