On July 18th, commencing at 5:35 p.m. for approximately 40 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call by the U.S. Presidential Delegation, who are visiting Japan to participate in the U.S. National Day Event of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his condolences and sympathies on the casualties and damages caused by the recent floods in Texas, the United States.
  2. Prime Minister Ishiba welcomed the U.S. Presidential Delegation on their visit to Japan. Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his sincere gratitude to President Trump who sent the delegation. Also, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his hope that the U.S. National Day on 19th will serve as an opportunity to showcase the strong Japan-U.S. Alliance and Japan-U.S. friendship.
  3. Prime Minister Ishiba exchanged views with the U.S. Presidential Delegation on Japan-U.S. cooperation in a wide range of fields. Prime Minister Ishiba stated that the security of Ukraine, the Middle East, and Asia are interconnected, and that Japan seeks to further strengthen cooperation with the United States. He also stressed that Japan makes proactive efforts in securing its own peace and security and continues to strengthen its defense capabilities. He stated that Japan and the United Staes have many areas in the fields of economy and economic security in which they should enhance their cooperation.
  4. Prime Minister Ishiba conveyed his opinion that he would like the ministers in charge to vigorously continue their consultations on the U.S. tariff measures towards realizing a mutually beneficial agreement.
