On June 25th, commencing at 9:10 am local time (4:10 p.m.JST) for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, during his visit to the Netherlands, held a Japan-U.S. Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with the Honorable Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States of America. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. The two foreign ministers exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East. Minister Iwaya welcomed the announced ceasefire between Israel and Iran as a significant development and underscored the importance of its faithful implementation. They concurred on the necessity of further diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region and affirmed their commitment to maintaining close communication.
  2. The two Ministers also exchanged views on the U.S. tariff measures. They concurred to support the consultations between the ministers in charge towards achieving a mutually beneficial agreement for both Japan and the United States.
