On June 13th, commencing at 10:00 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit telephone talk with the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America. The overview is as follows.

  1. Prime Minister Ishiba reiterated Japan's views on the U.S. tariff measures, taking into account the results of the Japan-U.S. Consultations on the U.S. Tariff Measures to date. The two leaders concurred to accelerate the consultations between the ministers in charge in order to achieve a mutually beneficial agreement for both Japan and the U.S.
  2. The two leaders also exchanged views on the response to Israel's recent attacks against Iran. They concurred that peace and stability in the Middle East are of paramount importance and that they would continue close communication on this matter.
