On April 15th, commencing at 10:05 a.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from the Honorable Wes Moore, Governor of the State of Maryland, United States of America and his delegation during their visit to Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi welcomed Governor Moore and his delegation to Japan and expressed his intention to deepen the cooperation at the state level to elevate the Japan-U.S. Alliance to new heights and to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific. In response, Governor Moore stated that the strong Japan-U.S. ties are reflected in the long-standing partnership between Japan and the State of Maryland and expressed his intention to continue strengthening cooperation with Japan in the future.
  2. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi expressed his expectation for further development of economic partnerships between Japan and the State of Maryland, including the expansion of investments by Japanese companies. In response, Governor Moore expressed his desire to work closely together to strengthen economic relationships between Japan and the United States as well as between Japan and the State of Maryland.
