Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan will visit Iwo-To on March 29. During the visit, Prime Minister will participate in Japan-U.S. Iwo-To Reunion of Honor Ceremony and Memorial Service for the Japanese War Dead on the Battle of Iwo-To.

(Reference2) Japan-U.S. Iwo-To Reunion of Honor Ceremony

The ceremony is held with the purpose of confirming post-war reconciliation between Japan and the United States and praying for further friendship through joint memorial and tribute activities for the war dead in Iwo-To by their bereaved families and others from both countries.

The ceremony organized by the Iwo-To Association consisting of bereaved families of Japanese war dead from the Battle of Iwo-To and others, takes place in front of the Iwo-To War Dead Monument (Tenzan Memorial Monument) and serves to memorialize, pay tribute to, and honor the Japanese war dead.
