On March 17, 2025, commencing at 11:50 am, for approximately 20 miniutes, Mr. Hayashi Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from the Hon. John Peter Ricketts, United States Senate.

The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi welcomed Senator Ricketts on his visit to Japan, and expressed his intention to advance cooperation with the United States to strengthen the Japan-U.S. Alliance and materialize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) based on the rule of law.
  2. Both sides also exchanged views on initiatives to further strengthen Japan-U.S. relations, as well as on global issues, including the situation in the Indo-Pacific region.
