On October 3rd, commencing at 10:15 a.m., for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from the Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his sympathies on the damage caused by the Hurricane in Southern U.S.
  2. Ambassador Emanuel offered his congratulations to Prime Minister Ishiba on his assumption of office.
  3. Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his intention to work on strengthening the Japan-U.S. Alliance and developing Japan-U.S. relations and so forth. In response, Ambassador Emanuel shared this view and stated that he will continue to work closely together with the Japanese government.
