On July 11, commencing at 10:40 a.m. (local time; July 11, 11:40 p.m. Japan time), Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Washington D.C. to attend the NATO Summit, had brief informal talks with the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States of America. The overview of the informal talks is as follows.

  1. Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude to President Biden for his leadership at the NATO Summit, and welcomed that the cooperation between Japan, Australia, NZ, ROK (IP4), and NATO has been solidified.
  2. In response, President Biden expressed his intention to further strengthen the cooperation between Japan and the U.S., including in the context of NATO.
