On April 17th (local time), Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Capri, Italy to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held informal talks with the Honorable Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Minister Kamikawa stated that she highly valued the substantial outcomes achieved during Prime Minister Kishida's recent official visit to the U.S., and the two ministers concurred on promoting concrete initiatives based on the discussions at the Japan-U.S. Summit Meeting and the Joint Leaders’ Statement.
  2. The two ministers exchanged views on various issues facing the international society, looking ahead to the discussions at the G7 Foreign Ministers5 Meeting. On the situation in the Middle East, the two ministers confirmed their deep concern about the attack by Iran against Israel which further deteriorate the current situation and strong condemnation of such escalation, and concurred on working together closely in making all necessary diplomatic efforts to prevent the further deterioration of the situation.
