Prime Minister Kishida’s attendance at a reception hosted by Speaker Johnson

On April 11th, commencing at 0:10 p.m. (local time, 1:10 a.m. on April 12th, Japan time) for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, during his official visit to Washington D.C., attended a reception hosted by the Honorable Mike Johnson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. The overview of the reception is as follows.
- At the outset, Speaker Johnson gave his welcoming remarks, stating that he is thankful for Prime Minister Kishida’s speech and that the speech was done at a crucial moment while also touching upon the relationship between Japan and Louisiana.
- Prime Minister Kishida stated that further expanding and deepening the Japan-U.S. alliance, which is the cornerstone of Japan’s foreign policy, is a top priority of the Kishida administration’s foreign policy, and that, as he stated in his speech, the two countries are now global partners, and will remain so in the future.
- Prime Minister Kishida exchanged views with other participants on ways to further expand and deepen the Japan-U.S. relationship.
