On September 19, commencing at 5:50 p.m. (local time, 6:50 a.m. on September 20, Japan time), for approximately 25 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting New York, U.S. for the United Nations General Assembly, held a meeting with Dr. Joshua W. Walker, President/Chief Executive Officer of Japan Society, and was given a tour of Japan Society afterwards from 6:15 p.m. (7:15 a.m.) for approximately 10 minutes. The overview of the visit is as follows.

  1. At the outset of the meeting, Minister Kamikawa commended the Japan Society and other local organizations for their long-term efforts that led to a growing interest in Japan in New York. Minister Kamikawa also stated that the promotion by Japan Society is an important asset, and that she hopes that Japan Society continues its high quality projects in the areas of diplomacy, economic and business relations, and culture and the arts.
  2. When Minister Kamikawa was given a tour of Japan Society, President Walker and others introduced the activities and achievements of Japan Society. Minister Kamikawa again expressed her appreciation for the contributions of Japan Society and the efforts of its staff, and expressed her hope for the further development of its activities in the future.
