Japan-U.S. Foreign Ministers’ Informal Talk
On November 3 (local time. November 4, Japan time), Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his visit to Munster, Germany, to attend G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held informal talks with the Honorable Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America. The overview of the talks is as follows.
On North Korea’s series of missile launches on November 2 and 3, the two ministers strongly condemned North Korea continuing its provocation in an unprecedented frequency and manner as a serious and imminent threat to the regional security and a clear and serious challenge to the international community. The two ministers shared the importance of further strengthening the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance. The two ministers also shared the view to continue close coordination between Japan and the U.S. as well as among Japan, the U.S., and the ROK toward the complete denuclearization of North Korea in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions by strengthening the regional deterrence including security cooperation among Japan, the U.S., and the ROK and by implementing further measures to be taken by the UN Security Council.
