Japan-U.S. Foreign Ministers' Telephone Talk

On October 8, commencing at around 8 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a Japan-U.S. Foreign Ministers' telephone talk with the Honorable Mike Pompeo, Secretary of State of the United States. The overview of the telephone talk is as follows.
- Secretary of State Pompeo provided a detailed explanation on the outcome of his visit to North Korea on October 7, and based on this, the two foreign ministers closely aligned their policies.
- The two foreign ministers reaffirmed that Japan and the United States, as well as Japan, the United States, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) would closely coordinate their policies in order to achieve the full implementation of the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, and would continue working together to resolve the abductions issue.
