On November 26, from 4:05 p.m. for about 40 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a delegation of the Japanese Canadians visiting Japan under 2024 “Japanese Canadian Leaders Invitation Program’ by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  1. At the beginning of the meeting, State Minister FUJII welcomed the delegation, who plays a leading role in the Japanese Canadian communities in various locations in Canada. He expressed his gratitude for their everyday activities and expressed his hope that their visit to Japan will deepen their understanding of Japan and strengthen their ties with Japan.
  2. The participants introduced their activities in their respective Japanese Canadian community and expressed their appreciation for the invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. State Minister FUJII stated that Japan and Canada have strong relations in various fields, and he would like to further enhance their cooperation.
  3. State Minister FUJII and the delegation exchanged their views on the situation of the Japanese Canadian community, Japan-Canada relations including their cultural exchanges, and other topics in a friendly atmosphere throughout the meeting.

With the aim of strengthening relations with the Japanese Canadian community, this program invites Japanese Canadian leaders who are active in various fields to Japan for about one week each year. The program provides opportunities for mutual understanding through exchanges of views with the Government officials, experts, and business communities and promotes understanding of Japan through visits to cultural and other facilities. It started in 2008, and a total of 70 Japanese Canadian leaders have visited Japan up to date.
