Japan-Canada Summit Meeting

On November 18th, commencing at 1:10 p.m. (local time, 1:10 a.m. on November 19th JST), for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to attend the G20 Summit, held a meeting with the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- The two leaders concurred to continue working together towards promoting bilateral economic and security cooperation including on LNG production and EV.
- The two leaders confirmed that they will continue the close coordination at G7 including the cooperation between Japan and Canada on the regional situations such as policies toward North Korea and relations with China.
- At the end of the meeting, given Canada’s G7 presidency next year, the two leaders concurred to continue to work closely together towards the success of the G7 Summit.
