- This year's training program was held from October 18 to October 25 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other locations, targeting 60 local staff members (Note 1) who play active roles in Japan's diplomatic missions abroad, such as embassies and consulates-general. The training program included lectures on diplomacy-related duties (Note 2), Japanese food training (lectures on Japanese food culture, manners, etc.), and study tours within and outside Tokyo.
(Note 1) Total of 60 members:21 from Asia and Oceania, 14 from North America and Latin America and the Caribbean, 12 from Europe, 13 from the Middle East and Africa.
(Note 2) Lectures on secretariat, consular affairs, public relations and culture, foreign policy, etc., by ministry officials, staff, and external lecturers - Local staff are invaluable assets who are indispensable for conducting our nation's diplomacy, particularly the activities of our diplomatic missions abroad. The 60 participants in this training program were selected from among approximately 5,800 local staff members based on their outstanding performance.
By having the local staff participating in this training deepen their understanding of systems and policies related to various operations of diplomatic missions abroad, and by acquiring the latest knowledge and information about our country through training in Japan, it is expected that the motivation and capabilities of the staff will be further enhanced in the future, ultimately leading to the further strengthening of our nation's diplomatic activities.
