If you wish to read the Specified Historical Public Records and Archives by the simple method and wish to make a copy of them, you will need to request that they be copied by the Diplomatic Archives or by a specialized copying service. However, as there are some documents that you can copy by yourself, please ask for further details.
In addition, you can photograph the Specified Historical Public Records and Archives with your own digital camera or film camera in the reading room, except for the most valuable historical materials.

[Note] Please make sure to set your camera shutter to silent mode when taking photographs. Also, please do not use flash, unipods, or tripods.

Copying by the Diplomatic Archives or by specialized copying service

If you wish to make a copy of a document from its original file, you need to request that the copies be made by the Diplomatic Archives or by a specialized copying service. When you request the Diplomatic Archives to copy the documents, the fee is to be paid in advance. Also, please be aware that when copying historical documents available by the simple method, you are required to pay consumption tax in addition to the fee.

Copying by the user himself/herself (self copying)

Reproductions, such as on microfilms and CD-Rs, can be copied by the users themselves using the computers in the reading room.
