Japan-Saudi Arabia Relations

The year 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In order to take this commemorative year as an opportunity to further develop bilateral relations through the implementation of various exchange programs between the two countries, we are calling for applications for a logo mark to be used in events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The application guidelines are as follows:

1 Application Guidelines

  • (1) Eligibility: Anyone is eligible to apply, regardless of nationality, age, gender, place of residence, etc.
  • (2) Deadline: Must arrive no later than Monday, July 1, 2024
  • (3) Inquiries and submissions should be sent to: japan-ksa70@mofa.go.jp
  • (4) Judging method: Logo mark proposals will be reviewed by the governments of Japan and Saudi Arabia, and the best design proposal will be selected as the official anniversary commemorative logo.
  • (5) Announcement of results: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Saudi Arabia, the Consulate-General of Japan in Jeddah, and the Government of Saudi Arabia will announce the results on their websites and SNS.

2 Entry Method

Please submit the original data and the application form for the logo mark proposal to the address in 1 (3) above as an attachment to an e-mail according to the following procedures (1) through (5). Please note that postal mail will not be accepted.

  • (1) Each logo design must be no larger than 3 MB in electronic format, with a resolution of 300 dpi or higher, in a file format (JPEG or PDF) that will fit into A4 size when printed. (2) The applicant may be asked to change the format of the submitted logo mark proposal.
  • (2) Please include an explanation of the purpose of the proposed logo mark in the application form (do not include it in the body of the e-mail) in approximately 100 characters. The content of the explanation may be disclosed at the time of the announcement of the best logo mark proposal.
  • (3) Please submit two versions of your entry, one in color (no restrictions on the number of colors, gradations, etc.) and the other in black and white.
  • (4) There is no limit to the number of entries.
  • (5) Original logo data and materials will not be returned.

3 SUBMISSION ADDRESS (Only applications by e-mail will be accepted.)

  • (3) Main body of e-mail: No text is required.
  • (4) Attached files: Application form (Word), data of the proposed logo mark (two versions: color and black and white)
  • (Note 1) If the volume of application e-mails exceeds the storage capacity limit of the mailbox due to a high concentration of applications, applications will temporarily not be accepted at the above address (you will receive a message stating that your message was not received). In this case, please wait a day and send your message again.
  • (Note 2) Please be sure to enter a telephone number and e-mail address where we can contact you. We may contact you regarding the details of your design.
  • (Note 3) Those whose designs are selected for the final design will be publicized on our website. If you do not wish your personal information (name, etc.) to be made public, please be sure to indicate so in the remarks column of the application form.

4 Notes

  • (1) The proposed logo must be created by the applicant, unpublished in Japan or abroad, and not infringe on any copyrights, trademarks, or other rights of third parties.
  • (2) Entries that are offensive to public order and morals or other legal provisions, contain slander or libel, or infringe on copyrights or third-party rights will not be considered. In addition, even after the logo mark has been adopted, if it is found to be in violation of these conditions, the adoption of the logo mark will be invalidated.
  • (3) The adopted logo mark proposal may be modified and processed as necessary for use as a logo mark. If the adopted logo mark proposal or the applicant fails to meet the necessary conditions, or if the applicant does not agree to any supplementary modifications, etc., the adoption of the logo mark will be invalidated even after the decision has been made.
  • (4) All rights pertaining to the submitted logo mark proposal and the copyright of the adopted logo mark proposal shall belong to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Government of Saudi Arabia. Applicants shall not exercise their moral rights with respect to the adopted logo mark proposal, and the submission of the application form shall be deemed to constitute consent thereto. As a general rule, the logo mark will not be modified except for size adjustment, conversion to a black-and-white version, Japanese translation, English translation, or Arabic translation.
  • (5) If any false information is found in the application form, the selection of the applicant may be cancelled even after the decision is made.
  • (6) The completed logo will be distributed to authorized recipients by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Government of Saudi Arabia for use in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia.
  • (7) Personal information of applicants (excluding name and affiliation) will not be disclosed or provided to any third party without the applicant's permission.
  • (8) No notification of acceptance or rejection will be made, and we will not respond to inquiries regarding the selection process.
