Japan-Oman Relations

The 8th Japan-Oman Foreign Policy Dialogue was held in Tokyo on April 17. From the Japanese side, Mr. ANDO Toshihide, Assistant Minister/ Director-General of the Middle East and African Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from the Omani side, H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and H. E. Dr. Mohammad Said Khalifa Al Busaidi, Ambassador to Japan, attended the meeting among other officials.

  1. At this meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to further strengthen cooperation between Japan and Oman in a wide range of fields, including diplomatic, economic and defense exchanges, under their “Comprehensive Partnership”.
  2. The two sides also exchanged views on the situation surrounding the Middle East, including the Gaza Strip, and East Asia as well as maritime security, and confirmed that they would further deepen cooperation toward the stabilization of the region and the international community.
  3. The two sides concurred to cooperate towards the success of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai and to further promote people-to-people exchanges through the Expo.
