The Fourth Policy Consultations Meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the State of Kuwait

- On December 23, the Fourth Policy Consultations Meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the State of Kuwait was held in Kuwait. From the Japanese side, Mr. ANDO Toshihide, Assistant Minister/Director-General of Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and from Kuwaiti side, H.E. Ambassador Sameeh Essa Johar HAYAT, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait attended the meeting among other officials.
- During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to further strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas, including bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, energy, culture and other areas, strengthening of bilateral contacts and exchanges, as well as cooperation in the international arena.
- Mr. Ando expressed his appreciation for the stable supply of crude oil from Kuwait over the years and confirmed that the two countries will continue to promote cooperation in various areas in the energy sector.
- The two sides also exchanged views on the importance of a free and open Indo-Pacific, the situation in the Middle East including Gaza region, and the situation in East Asia, and confirmed the need to strengthen the international order based on law, as well as to make further efforts in cooperation between the two countries to stabilize the regional and international community.
- The two sides also confirmed that they will work closely together in the framework of the GCC, taking into account that Kuwait will hold the GCC presidency in the coming year.
