On November 28, commencing at 3:30 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ONISHI Yohei received a courtesy call from H.E. Mrs. Reem Ketait, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The overview of the meeting is as follows;

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Onishi welcomed the diversification of bilateral cooperation between Japan and the UAE beyond the energy sector under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) in the course of more than 50 years of the diplomatic relations.
  2. Assistant Minister Ketait stated her intention to continue to actively work to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, touching upon the visits by a number of UAE dignitaries to Japan on the occasion of EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai this year, as well as the progress of the negotiations on the bilateral Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
  3. Both sides concurred to continue to utilize the CSPI framework to further strengthen cooperation in various fields, which will serve as the foundation for the future cooperation between the two countries.
