Meeting between Foreign Minister HAYASHI and H.E. Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates

On January 12, commencing at 02:10 p.m. (local time; on January 13, 04:10 a.m. JST) for approximately 20 minutes, H.E. Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting New York, U.S. to participate in Open Debate of the UN Security Council (UNSC), held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who attended the debate. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Minister Hayashi stated that Japan hopes to cooperate with the UAE, as non-permanent members of the UNSC, in order to maintain and strengthen the international order based on the rule of law. In response to this, Minister Sayegh stated that the rule of law is an important topic, and expressed his intention to work closely with Japan in the Security Council. The two Ministers confirmed that they would work together on issues including the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
- The two Ministers concurred on closely cooperating in a wide range of fields such as energy sectors.
