On the morning of January 16 local time, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting the Republic of Türkiye, visited the Department of Japanese Language and Literature (established in 1986) at Ankara University in the capital Ankara.

Minister Kamikawa talked with Rector Necdet Ünüvar and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Yasemin KEPENEKCİ and exchanged views on the further penetration of Japanese language studies in Türkiye, as well as the advancement of women in society. Afterwards, Minister Kamikawa observed the welcome performance of “Soran Bushi” by the students. The Minister visited the booth of the Japanese Culture Circle, and wrote Kanji character in Japanese calligraphy upon a request by the students from the Japanese Calligraphy Club.

Minister Kamikawa gave a warm welcome to the students of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature who are trying hard to learn Japanese language and culture, and encouraged them to come to Japan to further deepen their understanding , and to open up a new future with their young power.
