On June 11, commencing at 4:20 p.m. (Japan Time) for approximately 30 minutes, Ms. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök, Rector of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University (TJU), who is visiting Japan, and H.E. Mr. Oğuzhan ERTUĞRUL, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Japan.

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed Rector Kök on the occasion of his return visit to Japan, and expressed appreciation for the significant progress made in preparations for the university’s opening under the president’s strong leadership since his appointment at the end of 2024. She also welcomed the news that the university is now expected to open this autumn.
  2. In response, Rector Kök expressed gratitude for the cooperation and contributions of those concerned on the Japanese side and stated his determination to accelerate coordination toward the opening this autumn.
  3. Both sides concurred to continue working closely together to advance the opening and development of TJU, a national project, by leveraging the knowledge and strengths of both countries.
