Japan-Turkey Summit Telephone Talk

On December 1, commencing at 5:48 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, President of the Republic of Turkey. The overview of the talk is as follows.
- At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his gratitude for President Erdoğan’s message congratulating him on his appointment to office. He stated his intention to work with President Erdoğan to further develop Japan-Turkey relations as a strategic partner.
- In response, President Erdoğan once again extended his congratulations. The two leaders affirmed that they would promote cooperation in the economic, educational, disaster prevention, and energy fields in order to deepen bilateral relations.
- The two leaders also discussed the regional situation and other issues and shared the view to continue to work closely together. The two leaders also exchanged views on North Korea, and Prime Minister Kishida asked for understanding and cooperation on the abductions issue.
