On April 4, commencing at 5:23 p.m. (local time; on April 5, at 0:23 a.m. Japan time) for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Brussels to attend NATO Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Mevlüt ÇAVUŞOĞLU, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Minister Hayashi once again expressed heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their lives or suffered injuries as a result of the earthquake last month.
  2. Minister Hayashi also explained about Japan’s assistance plan toward future recovery and reconstruction of Türkiye, based on its experience of recovery from many earthquakes. Specifically, Minister Hayashi mentioned that Japan is prepared to: 1) provide technical assistance in response to the earthquake disaster by utilizing Japan's expertise: 2) provide assistance for reconstruction of social infrastructure, residences, and other livelihoods: 3) provide assistance for rebuilding economy and industry. Minister ÇAVUŞOĞLU expressed his deep gratitude for assistance from the Government and people of Japan so far and highly appreciated Japan’s assistance plan toward future recovery and reconstruction.
  3. The two Ministers concurred on continuing to work together on important matters regarding bilateral relations. They also exchanged views on international affairs including Ukraine.
