On November 7, from 3:00 PM for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Ahmed CHAFRA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia to Japan. The outline is as follows.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Onishi stated that Japan places great importance on its partnership with Tunisia, a key gateway to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe that plays a vital role in regional stability, and that the two countries have built cordial relations over many years since Tunisia's independence in 1956.
  2. In response, Ambassador Chafra noted that this year has seen active exchanges of high-level officials and an ongoing dialogue on political and security matters. He stated his intention to work towards enhancing bilateral relations, including strengthening investment and business ties and promoting academic exchanges.
  3. Both sides agreed to continue cooperations, looking ahead to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
