Meeting between Foreign Minister MOTEGI and H.E. Mr. Ahmed ABOUL GHEIT, Secretary General of the League of Arab States

 On August 16th, commencing at 11:20 AM (local time, 6:20 PM Japan time) for one hour, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ahmed ABOUL GHEIT, Secretary General of the League of Arab States. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Motegi expressed his respect to Secretary-General Aboul Gheit as he exerts his utmost efforts for the peace and stability in the Middle East region. They shared the view to deepen the relationship between Japan and the League of Arab States through various dialogues and cooperation in light of the achievement of the Second Japan-Arab Political Dialogue which was held successfully in April 2021. Both sides also shared the view to continue to closely work together towards the third Japan-Arab Political Dialogue.
  2. Minister Motegi stressed that Japan attaches great importance to the League to enhance Japan’s cooperation with the region. They also exchanged views on the regional situation, including the situation in the Middle East region including the Middle East Peace Process and Afghanistan, as well as the situation in East Asia, such as China and North Korea, and shared the view to enhance the partnerships in this regard.
